AFGE/DoD Confers Result in Delay of NSPS
Just days after AFGE and several other unions filed suit in federal court challenging the Department of Defense's proposed National Security Personnel System, DoD agreed to delay implementation of NSPS until Feb. 1, 2006. Representatives from AFGE and the Department of Justice, which represents DoD, came to an agreement after a series of meetings. DoD's action will alleviate the need for AFGE to file a Temporary Restraining Order to delay NSPS.

Specifically, NSPS will all but eliminate the due process rights that enable employees to speak with confidence when they see wrongdoing or mismanagement.

Fight Back Against NSPS: Operation Fairness
Operation Fairness targets key locals in the Defense Department in May 2005.
Through May, the DOD unions are in “Meet and Confer” sessions with DoD management to finalize the NSPS (National Security Personnel System) personnel policies. During this period, AFGE will be mounting a mobilization campaign, “Operation Fairness,” to demand that the U.S. Congress demand fairness in the final NSPS:
